FireCore has been hard at work making the latest version of Infuse over the past two months, and now the company is proudly offering the client for download on iOS platforms with streaming from Plex, XBMC, and more.

“Are you looking for a flexible video player that plays more formats? Infuse is the only video player app that bridges the gap between your iTunes and other content – so you can watch virtually anything you want, no matter the format,” says fireCore. “Yup, that means you can say ta-ta to wasting hours of precious movie-watching time converting your files.”

FireCore, which is also responsible for the aTV Flash (an Apple TV surpercharger), says Infuse is “Made for film buffs, design enthusiasts and anyone whose eyes are slowly morphing into screen-shaped rectangles.”

One of the biggest updates ever deployed for the video app, Infuse 2.3 makes it possible to connect with Plex, XBMC, WMC, PS3 Media Server, and other UPnP/DLNA servers to discover and watch movies and TV shows right on your iPhone or iPad, with options to stream as well as download the content.

New playback commands are included with all-new gestures, as outlined below.

Play/pause - 2-finger tap Rewind - tap/drag left (longer drag = longer rw) Fast-forward - tap/drag right (longer drag = longer ff) Adjust volume - tap/drag up or down right side of screen Adjust brightness - tap/drag up or down left side of screen Adjust zoom level - double-tap

Customers can now enjoy continuous playback, with the option to have the next video in the queue start automatically. The graphics have been tweaked throughout the app, for instance single movie folders are now displayed with neat cover art on top, and you get visual indicators for downloaded files.

Other improvements include smarter calculation of when videos are marked as “watched,” the ability to add artwork manually, better subtitle performance, improved NAS streaming, stability improvements and localization (translation) improvements.

Supported languages include English, Arabic, Bokmål, Norwegian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, and Traditional Chinese.

DRM-protected content purchased from the iTunes store is not supported by Infuse, while the app requires iOS 7.0 as the minimum firmware. To download Infuse 2, you need an iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad second generation, iPad third generation, iPad fourth generation, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, or iPod touch fifth generation.
