A new flavor of the Identity Developer Training Kit is now available for download for those interested in learning more on how they can take advantage of Microsoft's latest identity and access control developer's products and services.

Released as the July 2012 update, the new Identity Developer Training Kit comes in three versions, targeting different developer tools from Microsoft.

Each of these contains a set of hands-on labs, presentations and pointers to training videos, just as one would expect from a training kit.

Depending on the tools they have installed on their computers, developers can choose to download the Identity Developer Training Kit (July 2012) version for Visual Studio 2012 RC, for Visual Studio 2010 RTM, or for Visual Studio 2008 SP1.

“Please download the version corresponding to your primary development environment. Note that the three versions of the training kit will not work side by side,” Microsoft notes on its download website.

“Also note: the July 2012 version is a preview, and the March 2010 version is included for backward compatibility only: both versions do not contain presentations or videos. If you are interested in the presentations and link to the WIF workshop videos, please download the April 2011 version.”

The training kit was designed with support for Windows 7, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Vista Service Pack 2.

The July 2012 release also offers support for Windows 8 Release Preview (x86 or x64), Windows Server 2012 RC, Windows 7 SP1 (x86 or x64), and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Microsoft notes.

Developers interested in taking advantage of these tools will also need .NET Framework 4.5 RC installed on their machines, as well as Microsoft IIS 8 Express RC, Visual Studio 2012 RC, and Microsoft Identity and Access Tool for Visual Studio 2012 RC.
