The Google Chrome Dev Channel has been updated to version 4.0.237.0 for all platforms, according to Anthony Laforge, Google Chrome program manager, who writes on the related blog. According to the post, this release is focused on feature polish, as well as on improvements to the stability of the browser and extensions.

Interestingly, Laforge mentions  a single change for the Mac version of the browser - “significant bookmark bar improvements” - whereas the Linux incarnation of Chrome has undergone over a dozen such changes and enhancements. For example, on the Linux front, audio playing improvements have been made in video/audio tags, with a fix for "international keyboard handling" being added as well. Just as important, the new release fixes conflicts between accelerator keys and HTML DOM access keys, according to the development team.

The release notes also reveal that text drawn over rounded corners (including buttons) is no longer blurry, although this is just another fix for Linux users. This affected a variety of sites, including Google Calendar and Google Reader, according to Laforge, who adds that, “as an experiment, we've changed the way clicking in the omnibox works. Leave a comment on the bug if it bothers you.”

Mac OS X users should be proud to learn that, this time around, a list of known issues is reserved only for the Windows and Linux installments of Chrome. The single known issue plaguing Linux users and fans of the Chrome web browser is "autocomplete/ select box values [...] not being correctly populated." As a work around, Google’s Chrome program manager advises to use the up/down arrow keys to view the current selection. On the Windows side, the task bar icon does not update/display correctly, this being the second known issue listed by Google for this release.
