One day after shipping the latest Dev Channel update to early adopters, Google is offering testers a new Beta Build of Chrome 14, as well as a fresh release of Chrome 13 for end users.

Chrome 13 Stable has been kicked up a notch to version 13.0.782.218, and customers using the Mountain View-based search giant’s open source browser need to make sure to upgrade as soon as possible.

There are three flavors of Chrome 13.0.782.218 Stable, for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, respectively, the traditional platforms supported by the browser. Users will be able to find download links at the bottom of this article.

According to Google, Chrome 13.0.782.218 Stable is designed to enhance the security of its customers. The search giant disabled a rogue SSL certificate issued DigiNotar which was abused by cybercriminals in and man-in-the-middle attacks involving Google’s web properties.

The compromised root certificate can also potentially allow attackers to spoof Google websites and steal data from users that are tricked into thinking they navigated to legitimate sites. Mozilla and Microsoft also moved to remove the fraudulent SSL root certificate from the list of trusted certificates for Firefox and Internet Explorer, respectively.

Google also added that Chrome 13.0.782.218 Stable has been updated with a new version of Adobe Flash.

The same version of Adobe Flash Player is featured by the new Chrome 14.0.835.122 Beta, which is available to testers running Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

At the same time, Google continues to prepare the next version of Chrome for release. This means that the company is constantly dealing with various issues impacting the UX to a sufficient degree to keep version 14 of its open source browser in Beta.

For example, testers making the jump to Chrome 14.0.835.122 Beta will notice that the overall reliability of the browser has increased due to some stability bugs fixed in this release.
