A Lion-supported version of Chrome is now available from Google with a number of Mac-specific enhancements, including two-finger gesture support, and others.

Jason Kersey, of the Google Chrome development team, is proud to make the proper introductions, announcing that “The Chrome Dev channel has been updated to 14.0.835.0 for Mac and Linux, and 14.0.835.2 for Windows.”

Before delving into the changelog, Kersey asks testers to note that PDF viewing is broken in this release. Google promises to deliver a fix for this issue later this week.

Changes that apply to all supported platforms, including Mac OS X, are the updated V8 engine (to version 3.4.13.0) and implementation of the WebSocket HyBi 10 handshake and framing.

Windows users will see some sandboxing and GPU enhancements, whereas Linux testers will be glad to see Google has fixed an issue with going back to a page with plugins.

For Mac users, several important changes are listed.

First off (as noted above), Chrome 14 Dev now gains two-finger gesture support for OS X Lion, “which respects the system preference,” according to Kersey.

Multi-profile UI improvements have been implemented in the Mac build as well.

Additionally, the Native Client has been disabled for official releases of OS X 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard) and earlier using a 64-bit kernel.

The release notes end with a list of known issues. In addition to Chrome’s inability to display PDFs, the browser’s “WebSocket HyBi 10 is incompatible with HyBi 00, which was implemented in older versions of Chrome,” according to Kersey.

All Mac versions of Chrome (Stable, Beta, Dev) are immediately available for download via the link below. Google Chrome calls for an Intel-based Mac with at least 128MB of RAM.
