A new version of Chrome Dev is available for download on all supported platforms, including Mac OS X, Google has announced.

Anthony Laforge, program manager, blogs for Google: “The Dev channel has been updated to 13.0.782.13 for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome Frame.”

He reveals that “This release contains a number of UI tweaks and stabilities fixes,” and directs avid testers to SVN revision log for the full list of changes.

As usual, Laforge encourages those who find new issues to pick up on the bug reporter and file a bug.

Preliminary tests show that Chrome 13.0.782.13 Dev finally fixes Flash crashes.

Strangely, though, Google makes no mentioning of the efforts made to address Flash inconsistency.

User vamshi says, “flash crashes have been fixed, and i notice a performance increase over the previous updates, and ui has been tweaked a bit, page loading is faster.”

Another user commenting on the Chrome Releases blog observes that facebook.com still shows an empty page on his Windows 7 machine, whereas gmail now works fine.

Others, however, report a lot of 'aw snap!' random crashes with this build, as well as Flash crashes, even though many claim that Google has been able to deliver a more solid Dev build this time around.

The previous Chrome Dev release also contained a number of UI tweaks and stabilities fixes, which clearly indicates ongoing efforts on a specific set of core browser components.

Promoted to version 12 this week, Chrome Stable is also up for grabs.

Those who enjoy using only rock solid versions of the open source web browser should be pleased to learn that Google developers added hardware accelerated 3D CSS, new Safe Browsing protection against downloading malicious files, and the ability to delete Flash cookies from inside Chrome, just to name a few improvements.

On the Mac, users will now get a new warning when hitting Command-Q.

All versions of Chrome for Mac (Stable, Beta, Dev) can be obtained from the link below. The app calls for an Intel CPU, at least 128MB of RAM and over 100 megs of free disk space.
