With the latest Google Chrome testing Build released to early adopters, the Mountain View-based search giant has ensured that all the browser’s development channels have been updated this week. Google Chrome 12.0.742.68 is now available for download through the Beta Channel, as the company is working on wrapping up the next major version of the open source browser.

As it’s usually the case, Chrome 12.0.742.68 Beta can be downloaded by testers running Windows, Mac OS X or Linux, the search giant informed.

However, early adopters keen on taking this particular release of Chrome 12 out for a spin should not be expecting all that much from the latest Beta Build.

It appears that Google has made some cosmetic changes to Chrome 12.0 Beta. In this regard, Chrome 12.0.742.68 Beta brings to the table a small number of minor updates to the graphical user interface.

In addition to the UI refreshes, Google also introduces fixes for bugs impacting the performance of Chrome 12.0 Beta.

Chrome 12.0 is of course on its way to becoming the next Stable version of the open source browser, now that Chrome 11.0 was released to end users worldwide.

Chrome users that are not looking for the “extra adrenaline” that pre-release software testing provides, should stick with running version 11.0, at least for the time being.

If they do want to get involved in the testing process for the next version of the open source browser, they can do so by downloading, installing and using Chrome 12.0.742.68 Beta.

As ridiculous as it might sound, customers can also test the next next version of Chrome. Earlier this week, Google released Chrome 13.0.772.0 through the Dev Channel.

Chrome 13.0.772.0 Dev is the most advanced released of Chrome at this point in time, speaking in terms of the browser’s evolution.
