Just a day after updating the Dev Channel for Chrome, Google released a new Stable version of its open source browser.

End users need to make the jump to Google Chrome 12.0.742.112 Stable as soon as possible. The latest release is available for download, but of course, the Mountain View-based search giant will also be pushing the refresh to all users and installing it automatically.

Chrome 12.0.742.112 Stable is offered to customers running Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, and is a must-have update because of the security issues it’s designed to deal with.

According to Google, Chrome 12.0.742.112 Stable comes to patch no less than seven vulnerabilities affecting the previous Stable release of the browser.

Just one of the security issues is rated with a Medium risk level, with the others considered a High risk to customers.

Google has not mentioned whether any of the vulnerabilities are under attack, or if workable exploit code is available in the wild, although it’s still somewhat of a rarity for Chrome to come under the focus of attackers.

Still, in order to fend off any potential attacks, Chrome users need to update their browser immediately.

In addition to the vulnerabilities patched, Chrome 12.0.742.112 Stable also kicks up a notch the version of Adobe Flash that it includes.

Customers running Chrome 12.0.742.112 Stable will also be leveraging Flash Player 10.3.181.34, the latest update to the plug-in provided by Adobe.

“Adobe Flash Player 10.3.181.34 addresses compatibility issues with some content using cross-domain policy files,” Adobe stated.

Chrome 12.0.742.112 Stable remains the best option for end users that want to run Google’s open source browser.

Early adopters have two additional alternatives, they can either test the Beta of Chrome 13.0 or the Dev release of Chrome 14.0. Google Chrome 14.0.803.0 Dev was offered to testers just ahead of version 12.0.742.112.
