Google has released a new version of its open source web browser, Chrome, for all supported platforms, including Mac OS X. Now at version 10.0.648.126, the Beta channel offers a more stable version of Chrome, which also packs some UI tweaks, albeit alongside one issue that is in need of addressing.

According to Jason Kersey of the Google Chrome team, “The Chrome Beta channel has been updated to 10.0.648.126 for all platforms.”

According to Kersey’s blog post, Google Chrome 10.0.648.126 “contains stability improvements and UI tweaks,” with one known issue still unresolved as of yet:

“Clicking "Disable individual plug-ins" in Options causes crash.”

In usual manner, Google directs those interested in learning more to the SVN revision log, while those who find new issues are urged to file a bug with the search giant.

In addition to this Beta release of Chrome, the Stable and the Dev channels have also been updated this week.

The developer builds now include version 3.1.6.1 of the page rendering V8 engine, with accelerated compositing now being turned on by default.

Chrome 11.0.686.0 Dev also fixes a bug affecting the bookmark manager and other extensions, as well as an unspecified compatibility issue. Google mentioned a Mac-only fix as well.

The developer builds also suffer from a known issue - HTML5 videos don't play on Vimeo.

As for the most recent Stable release of Chrome for Mac, Windows, and Linux, it focuses solely on addressing security issues.

The Google Chrome beta channel is expected to reach version 11 soon.

For Mac users of Google Chrome, the requirements are Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or later and an Intel-based Mac.

As usual, all versions of Chrome for Mac (Stable, Beta, Dev) are immediately available for download via the link below.
