Google made available for download two new releases of its open source browser in the past two days.

This is not unusual for the Mountain View-based search giant, who has accustomed testers and users with a rapid pace of Chrome releases, be them major versions of development builds.

Google Chrome 10.0.634.0 can now be grabbed through the Dev Channel, with Chrome 9.0.597.47 being offered via the Beta Channel.

Chrome 9.0.597.47 Beta is a minor update to a release which shipped last week. The older Build of Chrome featured a few changes, among which the disabling of accelerated compositing and WebGL.

With the advent of Build 9.0.597.47, Google has enabled both accelerated compositing and WebGL by default for the Beta release of Chrome, as well as Flash Player sandboxing.

Chrome 9.0 is getting closer and closer to graduating from the Beta Chanel and being released to end users worldwide.

As was the case with previous releases of Chrome, version 9.0 is due no more than six weeks after the general availability of Chrome 8.0.

In addition to Chrome 9.0.597.47 Beta, Google also updated the Dev Channel, providing early adopters with the possibility to download and start testing Chrome 10.0.634.0.

Chrome 10.0.634.0 is also a minor update, but it does feature an update JavaScript engine. According to information offered by the search giant, Chrome 10.0.634.0 V8 is now up to version 3.0.6.1.

Additional changes were also made, with Google emphasizing tthat it has tweaked the updating mechanism for the open source browser.

As a consequence, testers of Chrome 10.0.634.0 will notice that the browser no longer requires a restart when there are no actual updates available.

Users can expect a flood of Chrome releases in 2011, just as it was the case in the second half of 2010, with Google on track to release the ninth version of Chrome before Microsoft ships Internet Explorer 9.
