Apple has launched a new version of iPhoto which adds a new batch of card themes that they can use to create albums. The update is also tasked with improving the stability of the app by addressing some recently discovered issues.

Talking more broadly about iPhoto 9.1.2, a free update for all existing iLife users, Apple reveals that it “adds new card themes to iPhoto '11. It also improves overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues,” the Mac maker says.

One of these issues apparently prevented the Zoom slider from being accessible in Magnify (1-Up) view. One similar issue did not allow Toolbars to auto-hide in Full Screen view.

The search field now correctly performs an "includes" search when searching by text string while the Message Size of emails now correctly updates when changes are made using the Photo Size menu.

Multiple book pages can now be drag-selected when in All Pages view, and photo backgrounds applied to a book are now preserved when book type is changed.

Finally, design tools in print project panels are now accessible via separate Layout and Options buttons, while the Tab key can now be used to navigate through all text fields in a book project.

Other minor issues fixed include formatting issues with book, card and calendar themes, and one error that prevented some iPhoto 5 libraries from upgrading correctly.

According to Apple, the free iPhoto 9.1.2 update is recommended for all users of iPhoto '11.

The update works on systems running Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later, the company says, and is localized in Deutsch, English, Français, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Português Brasileiro, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
