If surfing wasn’t enough to satisfy your thirst for the sea, Microsoft has a new nautical theme for all Windows 7 users. After the Redmond company released the Surfing theme recently, the Windows Personalization Gallery was updated with a new Sailing theme pack.

“Sail on: Skim seas around the world with this free Windows 7 theme that features the sounds of the seashore,” reads the theme’s description.

Make sure to check out the images at the bottom of this article in order to get a preview of the wallpapers included in the theme.

There are no less than 14 background images which Windows 7 users can enjoy as a slideshow of wallpapers due to the options of the operating system.

Users of platforms other than Windows 7 can also download the Sailing theme free of charge, but they will need to extract the contents and set the images as wallpapers one by one.

“The sailing theme puts you on deck for a virtual voyage from Boracay in the South Pacific to Bar Harbor, Maine, with stopovers in ports of call such as Antigua, Sardinia, and the Maldives,” said Jennifer Shepherd, site manager for the Windows Personalization Gallery.

As it is the case with the Surfing theme, the Sailing imagery contains some metadata. Users need to right click each wallpaper, select Properties and then Details.

Shepherd worked to provide some additional information about each of the images included in the Sailing theme pack, and even though it isn’t much, the info does provide a little insight into each picture.

More importantly, the Sailing theme also features packs a sound scheme, enhancing the experience available to Windows 7 users.

“Seagulls, splashes, waves, and water-drops – even a distant foghorn – now signal key events in Windows, from the arrival of a new email to the emptying of the Recycle Bin,” Shepherd added.

The Windows 7 Sailing theme is available for download here.
