Powerful virtualization solution for Mac OS X

VMware Fusion runs Windows inside a secure and isolated virtual machine. Unlike free virtualization solutions such as Sun Microsystem’s VirtualBox, VMWare Fusion fully integrates the guest OS with the host and its hardware, offering support for features like copy/paste and drag & drop, among many others.

“Built from the ground up for Mac users, with an obsessive eye towards being a ‘good Mac citizen’ VMware Fusion is the easiest, most Mac-friendly way to run Windows on the Mac,” the people at VMware say. “A Mac-first user interface ensures that users get the features they expect, like customizable tool bars, searchable Apple help, Boot Camp support, dock notification integration, and more,” the company markets its software.

The latest version available fixes multiple issues when running VMware Fusion 2.0.x on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (32-bit kernel mode). The 2.0.6 (Build 196839) update also provides an improved 3D performance on Macs with NVIDIA graphics cards running Mac OS X 10.6 and contains fixes for close to a dozen issues. Requirements call for OS X 10.4.11 or later and an Intel Mac. The main features of VMware Fusion include:

– Run Windows applications on your Intel Mac without the need to reboot; – Launch your Windows applications from the Dock, or even from your Mac files; – Share data between your Mac and Windows applications by dragging and dropping; – Copy and paste, and mirrored folders; – Mac-native user interface designed to integrate seamlessly with Mac OS X, including Cover Flow, Quick Look, and Apple Help integration; – Support for different languages (pick your language during installation).

The latest version of the software is a free, downloadable update for all VMware Fusion customers. Simply download the new software for use with your existing serial number. Both the beta and the stable releases can be acquired via the link below.
