14 DAY TRIAL // Mozilla is moving closer and closer to releasing the final version of its Firefox for Maemo browser, and now the second release candidate iteration of the application has been made available for download, following the recently availability of RC1. The browser has been developed to work on handsets that are powered by Nokia's Maemo platform, and the developing team also says that it is optimized for use on the new Nokia N900 Internet Tablet. However, one can also try out the browser on a desktop PC, as Mozilla provides such versions for Windows, Linux and Mac computers.

Firefox for mobile devices, which has been known until not too long ago under the name of Fennec, comes with a great deal of features that users of the desktop version should already be familiar with. However, the application also sports with a touch-oriented UI, quick zoom features, one-touch bookmarking, tabbed browsing and more. Here's how the UI works: “Firefox's touch-enabled interface allows you to swipe left to view your controls (bookmark, go backward and forward, access your browser tools, like Add-ons, preferences and downloads) and swipe right to view your open tabs.”
A great deal of other features are present with the Firefox for Maemo browser, including personalization options through support for add-ons and Location-Aware Browsing, as well as productivity functionalities like the preferences pane, download manager or spell checker. The browser also features security and privacy enhancements, including instant Web site ID, password manager, popup blocker or automated Update.
