14 DAY TRIAL // NeoOffice.org has officially announced the release of NeoOffice 3.2 Final for generous donors who can now download the Lion-compatible office suite completely free of charge.
Specifically, the new NeoOffice 3.2 can be downloaded by all NeoOffice donors who have donated US$10 (or €7 or £6 or CA$10 or AU$10 or ¥834) or more within the last year from the NeoOffice download page.
Since NeoOffice has no corporate sponsors, its developers must rely exclusively on donations from users to continue implementing the latest Mac OS X features in NeoOffice.
Therefore, non-donors are only entitled to download NeoOffice 3.1.2 free of charge.
“For those who want to download a free version of NeoOffice, no donation is required to download our older NeoOffice 3.1.2 version,” said NeoOffice.org.
Patch 8 for this release ensures that NeoOffice no longer puts temporary files within FileVault folder, and prevents Export-to-PDF stretched glyphs from being miskerned.
Version 3.1.2 is also Lion compatible, though probably not as stable as 3.2 Final.
According to the developers, NeoOffice 3.2 adds new Mac OS X 10.7 Lion compatible code, expanded font support, and significant reduction in size of PDF files, these being the key enhancements of this release.
The NeoOffice team thanks a number of organizations and people for making NeoOffice 3.2 possible, including all NeoOffice donors and all of the NeoOffice mirror sites.
The developers elaborate, saying that “By mirroring NeoOffice, these sites allow us to provide free downloads of an older NeoOffice version by absorbing a large portion of the substantial bandwidth costs associated with the millions of downloads made by NeoOffice users each year.”
