IT professionals in need of a toll to help them with the deployment and configuring of security mitigation technologies can now download the Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit v3.0 from Microsoft for that.

Released on May 15th, the new toolkit is meant to enhance the security of your system and to prevent hackers from accessing it.

The new toolkit was released with support for Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista Service Pack 1, Windows Vista Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2003 SP1 and Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Through security mitigation technologies, systems are rendered safer when it comes to exploiting vulnerabilities found in a specific piece of software, Microsoft notes.

“Software vulnerabilities and exploits have become an everyday part of life. Virtually every product has to deal with them and consequently, users are faced with a stream of security updates,” the company explains.

“For users who get attacked before the latest updates have been applied or who get attacked before an update is even available, the results can be devastating: malware, loss of PII, etc.”

Courtesy of EMET, users can manage these technologies straight on their systems, thus taking advantage of a certain set of benefits.

With this toolkit, no source code is needed, users benefit from a high level of customizations, and legacy applications are hardened. Moreover, it provides ease of use and simplified deployment, while benefiting from ongoing improvements.

Moreover, Microsoft notes that the Toolkit arrives with a series of mitigation technologies that have been designed to disrupt current exploit techniques.

“These pseudo mitigations are not robust enough to stop future exploit techniques, but can help prevent users from being compromised by many of the exploits currently in use. The mitigations are also designed so that they can be easily updated as attackers start using new exploit techniques,” the company explains.
