Customers requiring help to deploy Dynamics AX 2012 can download a few guides that Microsoft has made available free of charge.

There are no less than three resources up for grab on the Microsoft Download Center, focused on various scenarios including planning, but also installation and upgrade.

Specifically, customers have available the “Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Upgrade Guide” here, the “Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Installation Guide” here, and the “Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Implementation Planning Guide” here.

The labels of the three guides should be pretty self-explanatory when it comes down to describing the guidance available to IT professionals.

The upgrade document “provides end-to-end guidance for system administrators upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 from Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 or Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0,” Microsoft revealed.

“The Installation Guide for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 provides step-by-step instructions for installing Microsoft Dynamics AX components,” the company added.

“The Implementation Planning Guide provides prescriptive guidance to system architects, consultants, and IT professionals involved with planning a Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 implementation. Topics include Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 architecture, implementation methodology, and hardware and software requirements and planning,” the software giant said.

Some IT pros might already be available with Dynamics AX 2012, since a Community Technology Preview of Dynamics AX 6 was released earlier this year, shortly after the general availability of Dynamics AX 2009.

Dynamics AX 2012 is part of Microsoft’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution line-up, and the successor of Dynamics AX 2009.

Obviously, at least for the time being, Dynamics AX 2012 can only be tested by early adopters as a CTP release.

However, this will change by the end of 2011. The software giant plans to wrap up Dynamics AX 2012 and to launch it commercially in the third quarter of this year. A specific availability deadline wasn’t provided.
