A new flavor of Dropbox for Blackberry was just made available for download for all those who use the service while on the go straight on their BlackBerry devices, namely Build 1.0.52.

The new software update was made available only as a forum release for the time being but, provided that things go according to plan, it should not be too long before a new official version of the application is made available for download.

The new application release comes along both with a series of new features included into the mix, as well as with various fixes for some of the issues that the previous flavor was made available with.

As soon as they download and install the new mobile client flavor of Dropbox for Blackberry, users will be able to save email attachments to their cloud accounts, while benefiting from security passcode.

Moreover, they will enjoy improved support for some of the latest BlackBerry smartphones, such as the Bold 9900 & 9930 devices, which run under the new BlackBerry 7 OS.

The release notes for the new Dropbox for Blackberry forum build 1.0.52 shows:

New features: - Security passcode - Save email attachments to Dropbox

This build resolves: - Issues on 9900 & 9930 devices (BB OS 7 support for other devices should be working fine) - Bug on thumbnails screen where only a few thumbnails were loaded - Performance issues (more work to be done here) - Various design tweaks

Although it does offer new features and enhancements, this Dropbox for Blackberry forum build packs a series of issues as well, such as the fact that the cache files are downloaded unnecessarily.

Another issue that is present with the new release involves the passcode not being engaged when the user hits the button to turn off the screen (only when leaving the app).

The new flavor of Dropbox for Blackberry is available for download from Softpedia as well, via this link. Users who will give it a try should provide the development team with feedback on their experience.
