Google’s Jason Kersey has confirmed the availability of Chrome 6.0.472.36, a beta update for all supported platforms, including Mac OS X.

In a typical manner for Google, the release notes begin with changes affecting all platforms. These include a more polished user interface, and stability fixes.

Before the release of Chrome 6.0.472.36 Beta, one tester suggested there should be a link to enable/disable each individual plug-in in a plug-in group.

Chrome developers have now re-enabled the link to disable individual plug-ins in a group.

Mac specific changes include the ability to insert the Update Chrome item to existing Wrench menus when notified.

Chrome Frame now has an updated upgrade mechanism which should allow it to update itself from an older beta to a newer version more efficiently, according to the changelog.

As usual, more details about additional changes can be found in the svn log of all revisions.

Last week, Google enabled late binding for SSL sockets for all versions of Chrome, and included several fixes and checks relating to syncing extensions.

For Mac users, changes included tweaks and fixes to the Wrench menu, and a bug fix in the Custom Homepages preference.

Other resolved issues included focus problems when restoring from minimize, the inability to add an address properly in the "AutoFill options" dialog box, and issues with click-to-play content.

The most recent stable, beta and developer versions of Chrome are immediately available for download via the link below.

A note about this Chrome release

Google Chrome is a free and easy to use browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, easier and safer.

This release is not appropriate for general consumer use. Several features are unavailable at this time.

"Download this only if you are a developer or take great pleasure in incomplete, unpredictable, and potentially crashing software," the Chrome development team says.
