14 DAY TRIAL // With the entire world estimated to switch to VoIP calls in the next decade or so, BlackBerry is joining the party with an updated iPhone app that offers free voice calls to everyone on the BBM network.
BBM 2.0.0.31 is the newest version of the messenger app and iPhone customers can immediately download the client from iTunes.
The flagship feature is, of course, BBM Voice. It allows free voice calls between BBM contacts. There’s also BBM Channels, which lets you join conversations with BBM users, brands, businesses, and communities.
Users can share files and attachments much faster now (along with Dropbox integration), and they can share their location temporarily with Glympse. This feature is also a big deal, as WhatsApp users have long benefited from this kind of functionality.
“Your location is updated live on a map, right in BBM. When the timer runs out your location is private again,” BlackBerry Ltd states. Other key additions are highlighted below.

iPhone users can download BlackBerry Messenger 2.0.0.31 completely free of charge on any iOS firmware from 6.0 and newer.
