Earlier confirmed by Feral Interactive as headed to the Mac, Bioshock is now available as a free download as well, in the form of a demo version. Developed by 2K Boston and 2K Australia, and originally published by 2K Games, Bioshock introduces gamers to a world filled with fascinating characters, intelligent enemies and complex, moral choices.

Bioshock is a “genetically enhanced,” first-person shooter that lets players turn everything they can get their hands on into a weapon, biologically modify their character’s body with plasmids, hack devices and systems, upgrade weapons, or develop new types of ammunition, etc. Below, Softpedia has reproduced the official Feral post announcing the Bioshock demo for Mac.

Look, Mr Bubbles! A demo! Of Bioshock!

The multi award-winning game has already been getting rave reviews, and now you too can get a taste of rapture by visiting the downloads area.

You’ll find the game in our webstore, but to see screenshots, videos, desktop wallpapers and more, dive into our Bioshock mini-site.

Minimum system requirements for Bioshock include a 1.8 GHz Intel Mac, 1.5 GB of RAM, a 128 MB graphics card, a DVD drive, 8 GB of hard disk space and Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later. While it does run on the latest generation of MacBooks and Mac minis, the title does not support Intel GMA-integrated video chipsets. Bioshock is now available for $49.95 in North America and retails for £34.99 (inc. VAT) in the UK and €39.95 (inc. VAT) throughout the rest of Europe.

The 1.79GB DMG file containing the demo version of Bioshock for Mac is available either as a direct download via Feral Interactive or Softpedia (download link below), or as a torrent download from the publisher’s website. To download as torrent, users need to be prepared by installing a software application like Transmission, or uTorrent.
