One of the latest applications to have arrived on devices running under Google’s Android operating system is Basemark X by Rightware, nothing more than a professional performance evaluation tool that enables users to compare their device’s performance with that of other products.

The benchmarking application was released with support for ARM-based smartphones and tablets on Android 4.0 or upper OS, and can be downloaded for free.

“Basemark X produces high quality and objective performance measurement score. It is unique product, being the only professionally designed benchmark built on top of a real-world game engine, Unity 4. It contains heavy graphics content and pushes tested devices to the limit,” the app’s description reads.

Rightware also notes that the score showed by the app should be low, reflecting real-world graphics performance based on frame per second when rendering future games.

Basemark X will provide both consumers and companies with the possibility to access high-quality and objective performance information for their devices, regardless of whether they run under Android, iOS, or Windows Phone 8.

The application packs advanced game-like content, such as particle effects, advanced lighting effects, and post processing, the company also explains.

Furthermore, it features an integrated online results comparison service, Power Board, which can offer details on the performance capabilities of over 1,000 different devices. Through accessing such info, users can take better buy decisions.

“When it comes to gaming, creating and delivering optimal user experiences on any device is critical to the global adoption of the game,” said Tero Sarkkinen, founder of Rightware.

“Basemark X brings the collective knowledge and experience of the Rightware Benchmark Development Program and our long history of delivering the most popular benchmarking tools. Now anyone can measure, score and compare gaming performance of any platform and device.”
