14 DAY TRIAL // Angry Birds fans have a brand new episode to download on their iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. The Samba! update brings a new bird type, and 15 brand new levels to wreak havoc in.
With an iOS requirement of version 3.0, Angry Birds Rio is supported by all existing iDevices, allowing everyone to enjoy what is quite possibly the most popular and addictive puzzle game ever to hit the iTunes App Store.
Rovio Mobile, the developer of the original Angry Birds Game, details the plot in Angry Birds Rio for those who haven’t yet picked up on it:
“In Angry Birds Rio, the original Angry Birds are kidnapped and taken to the magical city of Rio de Janeiro, where they eventually escape their captors and set out to to save their friends, Blu and Jewel – two rare macaws and the stars of the [...] Fox motion picture, Rio. Angry Birds Rio will pair the physics-based gameplay of the original game with unique twists based on the film.”
As noted above, a new version of Angry Birds Rio for iOS is now available.
According to the changelog, Angry Birds Rio 1.2.0 brings a whole new episode - “It's time to Samba!”; 15 all new levels; and a new bird type.
Rovio doesn’t provide any details as to what the bird does, or at least what it looks like.
And while we could tell you we loaded it up on our iPhone and learned all about it, we feel the developers wanted everyone to discover the goodness spoiler free.
Angry Birds Rio now features a total of “four fantastic episodes with 105 exciting levels!”, new achievements, special hidden fruit which players must discover throughout the levels, and boss fights - an exclusive feature in Angry Birds Rio.
Rovio still has a few more episodes to roll out in the time leading up to the premiere of Rio, the movie from Fox.
“Expect plenty more where this came from: Episodic updates throughout 2011!”, the developer says.
The game costs one dollar on iPhone and iPod touch, and three dollars on the iPad.
