AMD wants everyone to Never Settle, but it can't actually force them

The Never Settle 12.11 Beta drivers are what Advanced Micro Devices dwelt on the most these past couple of days, even more than the Vishera FX CPU series that got released a short time ago.

Some people may not be comfortable with Beta software though, especially after AMD took the driver down immediately after posting it, due to bugs.

Fortunately, Advanced Micro Devices also has a WHQL-certified software package ready for download: Catalyst 12.10.

Unlike Never Settle, which only improves the performance of Radeon HD 7000 adapters, this one benefits Radeon HD 6000 and HD 5000 graphics cards and integrated GPUs.

Screen motion for rotation-aware devices has been optimized, along with GPU power consumption and sleep/resume performance.

Some problems have been fixed as well, in games like Wolfenstein, Enemy Territory Quake Wars, World of Warcraft, Dirt Showdown, Portal 2, and others. Disabling Eyefinity should stop causing system hangs now too.

Furthermore, AMD's driver supports Enduro technology, which is the Sunnyvale, California-based company GPU switching solution.

Notebooks equipped with Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs and an AMD Radeon HD 7900M, 7800M or 7700M discrete GPU will know when and how to switch between the two, saving battery but having enough resources to push things when needed.

It is specifically meant to resolve problems in Crysis 2, Darksiders 2, FIFA 13, Project C.A.R.S., Natural Selection 2 and Max Payne 3.
