Together with the latest Catalyst 11.7 driver suite, AMD has also released the usual hotfix which resolves some issues that usually make their appearance when older AGP-based graphics cards are used with this new driver.

The problems mentioned above affect all users having AMD Radeon HD 4xxx, Radeon HD 3xxx or Radeon HD 2xxx series graphics cards using the AGP interface.

When the driver is installed on a desktop that includes one of the above mentioned cards, the operating system will return a "No compatible hardware found" error message.

This error message is returned since a WHQL driver for AGP cards in the HD 4xxx, HD 3xxx and HD 2xxx series is not currently available.

In order to get past this error message, and install the latest version of the Catalyst driver, users have to download the hotfix appropriate for their OS and install this instead of the standard release.

Moving to the new version of Catalyst will provide users with a series of bug fixes that are meant to improve the stability of the system.

Among those, the most important are the patches that resolve the cursor moue lag witnessed by so many owners of Radeon graphics cards, or the HDMI and DisplayPort system hangs that were introduced with the previous version of the Catalyst driver.

The rest of the bug fixes introduced in this latest Catalyst release cover video playback, both application specific and general, including the hardware acceleration issues spotted in VLC Player version 1.1.9, and some minor problems witnessed in various games.
