In order to enhance the performance of the various graphics cards it has launched over time, AMD updates from time to time its Catalyst driver software, and, sure enough, that's exactly what they did right now, by releasing the AMD Catalyst version 10.11, that follows a rather lengthy series of hotfixes released for the previous driver version.

The new driver release targets desktop graphics cards going as high as ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series, AMD FireStream GPUs up to the 9350 model, notebook GPUs going up to the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5800 Series and AMD chipsets up to ATI Radeon HD 4290.

So, if you're the owner of one of the aforementioned hardware items, you can find the new drivers right here, on Softpedia, whether your machine is running Windows XP (download here), Windows XP x64 (download here), Windows Vista/7 (download here) or Windows Vista/7 x64 (download here).

For some strange reason, the new Radeon HD 6800 cards are not targeted by this release, but it remains to be seen exactly why exactly AMD has left them out (perhaps they'll get some dedicated drivers).

If you're curious as to what performance enhancements the new driver release will bring about, you should know that they've enabled a performance increase of up to 3% on ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series single and CrossFire configurations with anti-aliasing disabled in Battleforge, as well as of up to 5% on ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series single and CrossFire configurations in STALKER – Call of Pripyat.

Of course, depending on the operating system of choice, the driver update also brings about some other improvements and fixes, the most important and visible being available for users running the Windows 7 OS.

However, if you want to find out more on this topic, we strongly encourage you to read the driver's release notes, available on each of the download pages listed above.
