Agile Web Solutions has released the ninth beta for the latest version of 1Password, its password manager and form filler for Mac OS X. The new release is immediately available for download right here on our web site.

1Password is designed to remember all the online passwords that you insert on any web page or form, anytime, by using one single (master) countersign. It integrates directly into most browsers, and sports built-in, anti-phishing and keylogger protection. Mac owners can easily manage hundreds of passwords with one key. It supports Firefox, Camino, OmniWeb, DEVONagent, NetNewsWire, and of course, Apple's own Safari. Opera, unfortunately, isn't supported. An iPhone version of the app is also available for download via the iTunes App Store.

According to the changelog, 1Password 2.9.8 Beta 9 adds just a couple of changes. Still, the update is a must have for Firefox users, as the Firefox extension has been improved, says Agile Web Solutions. The app's built-in help has seen some changes as well, adding new information for those still troubleshooting the functionality of 1Password.

In previous versions of 1Password (2.9.8 Beta 5), the developers changed the display of "Fill & Submit," "Fill" ⌥, "Delete" ⌃, and "Edit" ⇧ options in the browser menu, while renaming the "Bookmarks" menu item to "Go & Fill," moving it to the top of the 1Password menu in the browser. Additionally, a dialog now displays "Fill Last Generated Password" when there are no Logins available for the current page, as the password is generated.

1Password starts at $39.95 - Single User license. A Family license costs $59.95. 1Password is licensed on a per-person basis (a single license can be used by one person on as many Macs as they can afford), in order to reduce 1Password's total cost of ownership. By using the link below, you can update to the latest version, try out 1Password for free in demo mode, or buy a copy of the software. 1Password requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). It is a Universal application, suitable for both Intel-based Macs, and PowerPC machines.
