Agile Web Solutions has released the final (stable) version of 1Password 2.9.12. After just one beta release, the company has enhanced its password manager and form filler for Mac OS X with tons of tweaks and fixes, delivering an overall better app. Existing users, as well as newcomers, can download the latest version of 1Password right here on our web site.

According to the release notes for 1Password 2.9.12 Final, almost a dozen changes have been made since the release of 1Password 2.9.12 Beta 1. Agile Web Solutions changed automatic updates to be enabled by default. If desired, this can be disabled in the Preferences > Update screen, as the developer indicates. The company also changed 1Password application and browser extensions so that they don't rely on OS X login keychain when Agile Keychain format is used. Specifically, the "Channel Code" entry in the login keychain is no longer required, Agile says.

1Password now makes sure Fill Last Generated Password shows Unlock Prompt if necessary and avoids triggering OS X Keychain unlock prompt, while adding extra validation to prevent a benign JavaScript error from being logged in Firefox that happens on some websites with Framesets. Old Diagnostics Reports are now removed before generating a new report to prevent potential confusion, with validation checks being added to Diagnostics Report to ensure ruby is installed and notify the user if it doesn't exist in any of the standard locations. Also noted by Agile Web Solutions is that the Print feature now includes Wallet items. Exactly one dozen bug fixes have been incorporated in this release. You can have a look at the full changelog here.

1Password is designed to remember all the online passwords that you insert on any web page or form, anytime, by using one single (master) countersign. The software integrates directly into most browsers, and sports built-in, anti-phishing and keylogger protection. Mac owners can easily manage hundreds of passwords with one key. It supports Firefox, Camino, OmniWeb, DEVONagent, NetNewsWire, and, of course, Apple's own Safari. Opera, unfortunately, isn't supported. An iPhone version of the app is also available for download via the iTunes App Store.

1Password starts at $39.95 - Single User license. A Family license costs $59.95. 1Password is licensed on a per-person basis (a single license can be used by one person on as many Macs as they can afford), in order to reduce 1Password's total cost of ownership. By using the link below, you can update to the latest version, try out 1Password for free in demo mode, or buy a copy of the software. 1Password requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). It is a Universal Binary application, suitable for both Intel-based Macs, and PowerPC machines.
