French publisher and developer DotEmu has just announced the upcoming release of the king of all beat ‘em up games, Double Dragon, on PC.

Double Dragon Trilogy will be unleashed on PC on January 15 on Steam, GOG and Amazon, but no details on how much it will cost have been disclosed by developer DoteEmu.

The good news is that the bundle will contain all three installments of the arcade series (hence the name): Double Dragon, Double Dragon 2: The Revenge and Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone.

Beginning January 15, Billy and his brother Jimmy, two martial arts experts, will start their adventures on PC. Their mission is to save Billy’s girlfriend Marian who has been kidnapped by the Black Shadows Gang.

Players will have a wide array of combos and punches at their disposal, so beat‘em up fans will feel right at home playing the game that precedes all the others in the genre.

Players will be given the option to choose from older or newer versions of graphics and music

Known for their PC and mobile adaptations of old games, the folks of DotEmu also detail the contents of the Double Dragon Trilogy, so you will know what you get before actually spending money on it.

First of all, the games will contain two modes: Arcade (play game from beginning to end and go for the high score) and Story (unlock new stages and achievements while playing through the game).

More importantly, you will be able to play the game with a controller or keyboard. Controls will be customizable as well. There will be three difficulty levels (easy, original, expert) and two sets of soundtracks: the original 8-bit music and a remastered version.

Local and online multiplayer will be available as well and players will be given the option to choose between the original graphics or a video filter.

On a side note, DotEmu are the same folks that developed Heroes of Might and Magic III HD Edition, which is supposed to arrive on Steam on January 29.
