Valve has started to reveal actual details about the long awaited Techies update for Dota 2, confirming that it will debut next week and that it's going to include, besides the new Techies hero, a suite of changes relating to gameplay and a few of the stretch goals it promised for The International 4 Compendium owners.

Dota 2 is a true global phenomenon and the extremely popular game saw its biggest tournament yet back in July, in the form of The International 4.

At the large event, Valve took the chance to show off the next upcoming hero, in the form of Techies, and promised that it would be released for all players by the end of August.

As always, the dreaded ValveTime has struck again and it seems that the studio can't make good on its word. However, it's revealed on the official website a special page for the Techies update, in which it confirms that the patch is going to debut next week.

Of course, the main feature is the introduction of Techies, a new hero that's technically composed out of three different goblin-like creatures. The characters were already present in Dota 1 and have now been reworked for their Dota 2 debut.

Techies is a different kind of hero, as it relies on setting up bombs using abilities like Land Mines and Stasis Trap to deal damage to clumsy foes. What's sure to be one of the most annoying abilities is "Suicide Squad, Attack!" which propels Techies with a live bomb towards a foe, killing it and the enemy in the process. Remote Mines that can be detonated on command are also bound to cause some grief.

Besides the actual hero, a special Arcana customization set called The Swine of the Sunken Galley is also going to appear for it, transforming them and their bomb cart into something quite special. In case you still haven't gotten enough, there's also going to be a Techies' Bombastic Box item that includes a Techies Announcer and Multi-Kill pack, a Nilbog the Mad Courier, and a Detonation HUD skin.

Dota 2 players will also be treated to quite a few new features, such as an All Random Deathmatch mode, a Gallery of Triumphs where past accomplishments will be displayed and an All-Hero Challenge, which tasks them with winning games using heroes in a certain order.

The International 4 Compendium owners are also going to receive an Assured Victory shout for all heroes to use before a match begins, as well as a Squint and Laugh Techies Taunt, which will be displayed when they're controlling the new hero and they kill an enemy. A special Multi-Kill banner will also be displayed for them during a match, and an interesting The International 2014 Music Pack can be used to replace the regular in-game music.

All sorts of other, smaller changes are included in the Dota 2 Techies update, related to interacting with the backpack, courier, and the items of players who disconnected or have abandoned the patch. Bots for Pudge, Riki, and Axe are also coming, while the Workshop will see a few slight tweaks.
