Doom might not be in great shape as a series right now, but the developers at id Software and publisher Bethesda are determined to return it to greatness, with a new game that will be launched on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 3.

Launch will take place during spring of next year.

During the E3 2015 press conference, a full look at the gameplay of the coming installment was offered, showing the full range of experiences that the use of id Tech 6 can deliver.

Doom uses the classic fast and floaty movement system of the series, allowing the player to quickly move from monsters to monsters and to dash in and out of the patch of enemies.

Classic health pick-ups are also confirmed to be a part of the new Doom, and gamers will also be able to use the high-powered weaponry of the series to take out the demonic enemies.

Melee is also an important part of the new shooter, with the demo showing how the main character can use his speed to reach armored enemies and take them out in gruesome ways without having to waste ammo on them.

The most satisfying close-up kills can be made with the classic chainsaw, which is animated with a lot of detail by the new id Tech 6 engine.

id Software also gave fans a look at Hell, with a boss fight that seemed both difficult and exciting to play.

New Doom multiplayer will be dynamic, vertically focused

id Software also wants gamers to become engaged with the competitive side of the coming shooter, with a variety of maps based on classic locations associated with the series and using a complex array of modes.

The gameplay seems designed to appeal to both long-term fans of the franchise and to those who are discovering it for the first time.

Cooperative experiences will also be part of the new Doom, and the development team is introducing a new tool called Doom Snapmap.

The idea is to give gamers quick and simple ways of tweaking maps and modes to suit their own needs with drag and drop and quick menu selections.

Snapmap also makes it easy to share newly designed content with the rest of the player community.
