After having showcased the new Doom title during its own E3 2015 press event, Bethesda now brings a suite of official details about the shooter's story and mechanics, not to mention gameplay videos and screenshots.

Bethesda kicked off the unofficial E3 2015 season with its own press event yesterday evening, on June 14, sharing details about its biggest upcoming or already-released experiences. While Fallout 4, Dishonored 2, or the other new titles caught the attention of many, the new Doom was also highlighted extensively.

After we heard some straight details from the press event, Bethesda now shares official details about the gameplay and story in the shooter made by id Software, as well as some impressive screenshots and gameplay videos.

Doom brings retro gameplay, simple story

First up, in terms of story, Bethesda emphasizes that it's keeping things simple, as players take the role of a lone Doom Marine that has to kill all the demons infesting the Mars research facility.

Gameplay mechanics focus on the classic elements of the series, from frantic movement, to impressive guns, and lots of different enemies.

"DOOM returns as a brutally fun and challenging modern-day shooter experience. Relentless demons, impossibly destructive guns, and fast, fluid movement provide the foundation for intense, first-person combat - whether you’re obliterating demon hordes through the depths of Hell in the single-player campaign, or competing against your friends in numerous multiplayer modes."

Besides the impressive campaign, Doom also brings intense multiplayer with a focus on arena-style combat. Classic and new game modes are present, not to mention power-ups that transform players from marines into demons.

What's really impressive is that Doom also brings an all-new feature called SnapMap, which enables players to create their own levels but also game rules. It will be available across PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and will allow for easy sharing with friends and other Doom players.

Check out a few videos and some screenshots with Doom in action below. The game is scheduled to debut in early 2016.
