Wednesday came and with it, another XBLA retro title to satisfy arcade fans or at least that's what you'd expect, but this particular Wednesday is special, as Doom befalls Xbox 360 consoles. Reports of players relentlessly replaying the old school shooter come in form all over the world while the killing frenzy stacks up in hours upon hours of straight-on FPS action. Well, things might not be exactly as I depicted them, yet Microsoft really pulled the rabbit out of the hat with the Doom release, keeping silent about the title until the very last moment.

You play your part as a solitary marine stranded on Mars when a secret military experiment literally goes to hell and the road to freedom goes straight through an army of demons and undead marines using. An arsenal of classic shoot-'em-up weapons along with the exquisite BFG 9000 will help you survive the deadly encounters and eventually save mankind from certain extinction. Xbox Live Arcade Doom is actually based upon the Ultimate Doom installment and includes all four original episodes in one complete experience.

The 1993 classic was reworked by developer Nerve Software and features the enhanced High-Definition display, along with 5.1 surround Sound. It's time to bring down the leader boards and best your old records as you unlock a full array of achievements. For the first time, players can enjoy the incessant frag fest in both singleplayer and 2-4-player cooperative mode with up to 4 players at the same time, along with splitscreen and XBLA deathmatch modes. Doom is now available for 800 points and is rated Mature by the ESRB.
