A new trend tends to become more popular as the parents from all around the world are buying domain names for their kids in a move meant to reserve the website for a later time. CNN reports that the domain sellers are recording an impressive increase in clients as a lot of parents are buying domains even before their kids are born. It seems like most of them are trying to avoid the famous Britney Spears case when someone registered a domain with the name of the famous pop star's son. Nowadays, it's extremely easy to buy a domain name, many of the Internet consumers using it for blogs or for redirecting the users to a certain profile hosted by the social networking websites such as MySpace, Facebook or Hi5.

"It is the starting point for your online identity," said for CNN Warren Adelman, president of GoDaddy.com Inc, one of the largest domain name sellers on the Internet. "We do believe the domain name is the foundation upon which all the other Internet services are based."

Beside the fact that it's extremely easy to buy a domain name, it's also very cheap. For example, GoDaddy sells a domain name for $8.95 per year with several bonuses and special prices for longer periods of times.

The blogging technologies also have a big impact over the domain name industry. Think at Blogger or WordPress, two of the most popular blogging services on the Internet. Both of them provide extremely easy to use functions to publish the blog on your own domain, allowing the visitors to visit your website by typing your name in the address bar. Also, the search engines enhance the bloggers by enabling other Internet consumers to find your page by entering your name in the search box. Because there are only a few pages with your own name, your personal page will be displayed among the first one so a certain amount of traffic comes straight from the search engines.
