Only last week, a dolphin residing at Sea World in Florida bit an 8-year-old named Jillian Thomas.

Some would say that the dolphin decided to do this because the kid was being a tad stressful, but it seems that all the 8-year-old tried to do was feed it some fish.

The girl's father caught the entire incident on tape, and is now using the video to raise awareness with respect to how aggressive these marine mammals can sometimes be, despite the fact that most people consider them harmless and friendly.

“The first thing I thought was I would have to jump in water and save my daughter's life. I literally thought she was going to be pulled into the water," the girl's father told members of the press.

Needless to say, the staff at Sea World is expected to take full responsibility for this incident, especially given the fact that it is their job to make sure the animals in their care do not pose any risks to visitors.

It is quite likely that several animal rights activists will argue that the dolphin only bit the girl because life in captivity does not sit very well with it, and it felt the need to somehow act out its frustrations.

The girl suffered three puncture wounds which are now healing, yet odds are that it will be quite a while before she agrees to go anywhere near a dolphin again.
