Yesterday, just a few hours after a shooting that took place at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles and that ended in the death of 21-year-old Atlanta rapper Dolla, a suspect was apprehended at LAX, as he was trying to make good his escape. According to TMZ, the suspect has already been booked for murder, but the police are still to conclude the investigation in the case.

“The man police arrested at LAX yesterday after the shooting death of rapper Dolla has been booked for murder. 23-year-old Aubrey Berry was booked early this morning and his bail was set at $1,000,000. Cops say two other ‘persons of interest’ – who were allegedly at the airport with Berry at the time of the shooting – are being questioned.” the celebrity gossip publication and paparazzi agency informs.

As we reported yesterday, Dolla, a young rapper with a promising career ahead of him, was shot at the LA Mall, presumably following an altercation with the assailant. It is not yet known what led to the shooting that ended tragically for Dolla, but it is believed he had gotten into a fight on the flight from hometown Atlanta to Los Angeles, which might have led to the altercation in the parking lot at the Mall. The suspect seen running after the gunshots were heard was apprehended just hours after fleeing the scene and is now, as noted above, facing a murder charge.

“The man shot at the Beverly Center mall this afternoon was identified as Atlanta-based Dolla, whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, according to his publicist, Sue Vannasing. She said Dolla was shot in the head around 3:10 p.m. […] About two hours later, Los Angeles police detained a ‘person of interest’ as he attempted to board a plane out of Los Angeles International Airport. The man allegedly drove his silver Mercedes SUV from Beverly Center to the airport. Vannasing said Dolla had gotten into an altercation with other passengers on a flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles, but it’s unclear if that was related to the violence.” an LA Times report explained yesterday.

Akon’s label, Konvict Musik, where Dolla was signed and where he had already released an album, has issued an official statement to express regrets for the passing of such a talented young artist. In the meanwhile, the police are yet to determine the causes of the conflict and the person responsible for the death of the rapper, so keep an eye on this space for when the investigation comes to an end.
