It clearly looks like Dolby will finally take over the world, so to speak. During a press conference in San Francisco, Dolby laboratories have announced the new deal they've made with Acer for the next line of Aspire notebooks. These new computers will all sport a most alluring array of Dolby technologies, all included in the Dolby Home Theater suite.

As notebooks are becoming more and more popular, the multimedia demands they have to meet are higher and higher. Since the notebooks are these days highly-complex entertainment systems as well, the Dolby technology was one thing to expect. Not that the world couldn't do without but since it's possible, why settle for less?

The new line of Acer Aspire notebooks will sport support for the following technologies, as specced by Dolby themselves in the voice of Sean Durkin (Dolby Laboratories):

"- Dolby Digital, a powerful audio format that provides up to 5.1-discrete channels of crystal-clear digital surround sound with extensive home theater compatibility.

- Dolby Digital Live, which converts any audio signal from the PC into Dolby Digital for easy connection to home theater systems through a single digital cable.

- Dolby Pro Logic II, which creates a cinema-style 5.1 channel surround sound experience from any stereo (2-channel) movie, music, TV or game audio source.

- Dolby Headphone, which delivers the cinema-style experience of a 5.1 channel soundtrack from any set of headphones, while improving long-term listening comfort.

- Dolby Virtual Speaker, which delivers the cinema-style surround experience of a 5.1 channel soundtrack from any pair of stereo speakers."

Now, it looks like Acer will once more boost the sales for the acclaimed Aspire series as these new PCs will now be able to deliver better sound and work faster, in better conditions with hi-def multimedia.
