We often speak about how adopting a dog is in many ways far better than buying one from a puppy mill.

Therefore, we considered it worthwhile to draw your attention to the fact that, only recently, a six-year-old adopted pooch named Duke saved the life of a 9-week-old child in Portland.

As Duke's owners explain, the dog simply jumped on their bed while they were sleeping, and did its best in waking them up.

Seeing how Duke is not in the habit of disturbing the sleep of its owners purely for entertainment purposes, the Brousseaus realized that something was off and went to check up on their daughter.

When they got to her, they found that she was not breathing and immediately called 911. Luckily, the paramedics were successful in getting the child to breathe again.

Jenna Brousseau hopes that what Duke did for her child will help convince more people to adopt pets and make them a part of their families.
