A few days back, a baby moose was rescued from drowning by Dr. Karen Sciascia, who chanced to be nearby when the animal and its mother tried to cross a river and found that the current was too strong for them to handle.

Tree Hugger says that, when the obstetrician first caught a glimpse of the baby moose and its mother, the two were standing on the banks of Big Hole River in Montana and were getting ready to cross it.

Once they made it into the water, the mother moose managed to swim all the way to the other side, yet its offspring got carried away by the current.

“Mom kept pushing – the current was pretty swift. The mother bolted and took off across the river. She was trying to get across the main portion of the channel, and even she struggled.”

“We lost sight of the baby. It was hurtling downstream and was being pushed by the river. It was too small to ever fight the current,” Dr. Karen Sciascia said.

The obstetrician and her guide turned their boast and followed the animal along the river. They managed to reach it and pulled it out of the water.

The two then paddled upstream and released the baby moose in the area where they had last seen its mother. The latter soon emerged from the nearby vegetation and the family was reunited.
