Summit Entertainment just released the trailer for the movie “Divergent,” said to be a faithful adaptation of Veronica Roth's popular novel series. The trailer shows fans the narrative of the movie and introduces them to the mixture of genres that “Divergent” is.

The story revolves around a society divided in five factions or five paradigms of thinking: Compassion, Honesty, Intelligence, Selflessness and Bravery, each faction having its role in maintaining the balance of the world.

Every teenager must belong to one of the factions when coming-of-age, and they either make the choice themselves or are selected by the system. After choosing their matching faction, the young adult must serve his/her new family under strict control. But even if the system proved efficient for a while, not even their way of balancing society is perfect.

The movie follows the story of a young woman, Tris, who chose a different path. The girl did not fit in any of the categories and was labeled divergent. As a misfit of society, she chose to join Dauntless, a sixth faction based on developing the military capacity of society.

Being divergent, Tris (Shailene Woodley) struggles with the process of defining herself while pursued by a society that does not accept misfits. On her journey, she meets Four (Theo James), with whom she shares an intense love story while trying to save her own life.

The movie is set for release on March 21, 2014.
