Disney star Tiffany Thornton, best known to fans for her role opposite Demi Lovato in “Sonny with a Chance,” is being accused by her husband of abducting their two small children and moving with them out of California, to Texas, without his consent.

The 28-year-old singer and actress and Chris Carney were married in 2011, after a 2-year engagement, and they have 2 sons together, 20 months and 3 months old, respectively. Carney is telling the media that he thinks the only explanation for why Tiffany packed up and left with the kids is that she’s suffering from post-partum depression.

As little media attention as these two got so far for their personal life, this abduction story has all the makings of a huge celebrity scandal. Unfortunately, the ultimate price will be paid by the 2 children.

As Carney says for The Insider with Yahoo, right after Easter break, Tiffany simply got out and left, sending word that she was never coming back.

“She took our car without my permission, drove my babies from Los Angeles with my mother to Hot Springs [where Carney's mother, Ruth, is the mayor.] She said that she's not coming back,” Carney explains. Tiffany is now in Texas, at her family’s home.

Carney says he filed a police report with the Los Angeles Police Department but, when he realized that the case was out of their jurisdiction, he also contacted the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services to look into the matter.

He argues that Tiffany acted this way because she’s suffering from post-partum depression, and seems to hint at some marital problems stemming from her religious upbringing and how it put her “at odds” with his rocker lifestyle. In the initial police report, he doesn’t elaborate on that last part.

Even if he did, he would have been lying, Tiffany says in a statement to the same media outlet. She stresses that all his allegations are “false and being dealt with in the proper forum,” but doesn’t explain what led to her decision to leave.

“The fact that Mr. Carney has chosen to contact The Insider to publicize these claims raises serious concerns for Ms. Thornton, who does not believe that Mr. Carney's desire for media attention, is in the best interest of the parties of the children, the two young children,” the Disney star says through her attorney.

In response, her estranged husband insists that all steps he has initiated so far have no other excuse than his fear for the safety of his children, whom he wants back in California ASAP.
