Disney Infinity on the PlayStation 3 is plagued by freezes and crashes and the main problem is apparently the day-one patch for the game, in the form of update 1.01. Disney has acknowledged the issues and advised players to uninstall it.

Disney Infinity is the latest contender for Activision's Skylanders franchise, as Disney wants to use the ubiquity of some of its biggest franchises, like The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., or Pirates of the Caribbean, to dominate this new genre.

Sadly, the game's recent launch has been plagued by a key issue on the PS3, as patch 1.01 is apparently causing major freezes and crashes after it's installed.

Disney has just acknowledged the issue on Facebook and claimed that the problem is actually due to the PlayStation Network and that it's working with Sony to address it.

"We have learned that there is a network issue related to the 1.01 patch for the PlayStation 3 version of Disney Infinity. This is not a software-related issue, and we are working to resolve this as quickly as possible," the company said.

"Players with the PlayStation 3 version of Disney Infinity are still able to play single-player and multi-player co-op modes of the game by removing the patch and turning off their Playstation's network communications. We are working diligently to resolve the issue and will update you as soon as we have more information."

Disney even offered two quick guides to help PS3 owners uninstall the game's update and to turn off the PS3's Network Communication, so check them out below.

"To remove the patch: 1. Go to the Game menu of the XMB 2. Open the Game Data Utility folder (near the top of the list) 3. Highlight the Disney infinity icon with the characters background (this is the patch) 4. Press the triangle button on the wireless controller 5. Select the delete option 6. When asked “are you sure you want to continue?”, select YES Patch is now deleted."

"To turn off network communication 1. Go to the Settings menu of the XMB 2. Open the Network Settings menu (last on the list) 3. Select Internet Connection 4. Highlight “Disable” and press the X button on the wireless controller Network is now disabled"

As of yet, no other details are available about Disney Infinity on the PS3.
