Disney has managed to make a big impact on the video game and toy market with the launch of Disney Infinity, and it seems that the company is now ready to deliver another experience that mixes the physical and virtual, called Playmation.

The new concept is demonstrated in a trailer that suggests that interested players will be able to get access to wearable computers and smart toys that will combine with software to create challenges in the real world.

The first set for Playmation is called The Avengers and gamers will be able to get the Repulsor that Iron Man uses to take advantge of it in their play session.

Disney claims that "There is a companion app, but Playmation is not meant to be played in front of a screen. Instead, you become part of the story in real life-running around and using your imagination to complete missions and go on exciting adventures."

Disney will deliver the first installment of the new concept in the fall in North America, and it has plans to focus on Star Wars and Frozen in 2016.

Playmation sounds like an interesting idea, but it will most likely have to compete with the Infinity concept from the same company, which is already offering content based around The Avengers and will get a major expansion linked to Star Wars in the fall.

Toys are becoming an important part of gaming

The announcement of the new Disney mix of real and virtual titles is part of a bigger trend that sees companies try to deliver both toys and video games to their fans.

Disney is working on both Playmation and Infinity, and it seems that both of them already have long-term plans.

Activision is also boosting its own Skylanders experience, which is due to get another expansion during the fall, although specifics have not yet been revealed.

Nintendo is using its large cast of characters to sell Amiibo figurines to its fans, creating a new collecting trend among them even if the toys do not offer a lot of actual video game functionality.

The Japanese company has also revealed that it will be working to create theme parks based on its biggest franchises.
