A rainbow dinosaur created by a school in Massachusetts has been at the center of debates regarding the admission of gay pride symbols on campus.

Granby High School in Massachusetts students voted for the statue of a multicolored dinosaur, which is meant to represent the town.

Dinosaur tracks have been found at Granby and town officials have voted to erect statues of the extinct species all around town.

Some residents did not approve with the rainbow being displayed near the school, but others were not eager to let kids down.

"These are 6-year-old kids we're talking about that voted on this beautiful thing that's representing our town," Shannon Asselin tells 22 News.

The school committee have voted and they have agreed to keep the dinosaur, colors and all.
