More hybrids from China

The Chinese from JDX received impressive feedback from customers who bought their Meizu M6 player. Thus, JXD listened to some requests and included new features in its new JXD638 hybrid. The customers wanted a bigger screen and they got a 3" color display (Meizu M6 has a 2.4" one). JXD's player now includes tv-out and tv-in, which allow video recordings directly on the available memory, and SD slot for memory expansion. Video formats such as DivX, XviD or ASF (up to 720 x 480 @30 fps) and JPEG picture formats are easily supported by JXD638.

JDX goes ahead and implements a digital photo camera into the 100.2 x 63.2 x 12.2 mm bodywork which weighs 98 grams. Current specifications regarding the maximum supported resolution of the camera are pretty scarce. It seems that it will be just a fashion feature and it won't support more than 2 MPs.

Too good? There has to be some downside in here. Or more than one, actually. Just 1 GB of solid-state internal flash, helped out by a maximum of 2 GB on the SD card. The 1100 mAH Li-Ion can provide 4 hours of video and a maximum of 5 hours for music playback (not that much for an audiophile, but a decent number for video content). And Ogg and FLAC audio files seem to have been forgotten.

The player is expected to cost around 150 Euro or $200 but there is no information regarding an outside-of-China release.
