Previously, the hard disk drive unit was only sold in 500 GB

One might say that 500 GB is enough of a capacity for portable hard disk drives, especially when the best and costliest flash drives only manage 256 GB, and portable SSDs cost a lot more than HDDs of similar storage space. Silicon Power disagrees though, if its latest item says anything.

Said item is a Diamond D20 hard disk drive unit with a capacity of 1 TB. Previously, the unit only came in 500 GB, but Silicon Power didn't think it was enough, so here we are.

As before, the storage device uses a slim aluminum metal case with anti-scratch surface. The USB 3.0 interface establishes the link to a PC, or whatever else, but the top transfer speeds are unknown.

Sure, the press release gave 480 MB/s (5 Gbps) on USB 3.0 and 4.8 MB/s (480 Mbps) on USB 2.0, but those are the theoretical maximums of the interfaces themselves, which haven't really been reached by nearly any storage unit so far. No price yet, alas.
