14 DAY TRIAL // The upcoming Diablo II Patch 1.13 was initially confirmed by Blizzard Entertainment earlier this year. Fans of the action RPG still have to wait for a solid release date, due to typical development delays, but the WoW maker trusts it will be able to deliver the much-anticipated patch soon, according to a Battle.net update.
Available for both Mac and PC, Diablo II is the sequel to the game Diablo, a dark, fantasy-themed, action, role-playing game (RPG) played in four acts. Released for Mac OS X in 2000 under the publishing label of Blizzard Entertainment, the title development was handled by Blizzard North. The game was one of the most popular in 2000, thanks to its addictive, hack-and-slash gameplay and free access to Battle.net. Diablo II can be played both online and in single player.
“Work commences on patch 1.13,” an update on the Battle.net forums reads. “We won't be providing any information on when the patch will be available, except that we expect the PTR to be available ‘soon,’” Blizzard poster Bashiok writes. “We will provide some amount of warning very, very shortly before the PTRs become available. Please keep in mind that any number of factors could delay the start of the PTR and ultimate release of the patch. Thanks for being patient, we're getting close now,” the post adds.
A more recent update, also signed Bashiok, reveals that Blizzard is gearing up for a Diablo II ladder reset coinciding with the release of the 1.13 patch. “We don’t have a final release date,” Bashiok stresses, “[...] but we’re providing early warning as a reset could occur as early as the end of April. We’ll be providing updates with more certain dates once the patch is closer to release.”
“Please be aware that with a ladder reset all ladder characters are moved to non-ladder,” Blizzard’s poster explains. “This means that your characters will still be accessible but will no longer have access to ladder-only features and games. In order to play in the new ladder season after the reset you will need to make new ladder characters. This thread will be updated with more information as it becomes available,” the post ends.
