Diablo 3's upcoming Seasons mechanic has just received some fresh details from Blizzard, confirming that the special legendary items that will be introduced during a certain season will be included in the regular game after its conclusion and that all characters who've gotten such items can use them after a season ends.

Diablo 3 impressed quite a lot of role-playing dungeon crawler fans back in 2012 when it first appeared for the PC and Mac, and then in 2013 when it made its debut for the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles.

Earlier this year it received its first big expansion in the form of Reaper of Souls for PC and Mac, and console owners on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One will get the add-on as part of a new Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition release.

Besides keeping this rapid release schedule, Blizzard's Diablo team is working on plenty of new things, including the major patch 2.1, which is set to include a huge amount of modifications, bug fixes, improvements, and new things for players to enjoy.

Among them is the fresh Season system, which is set to offer new challenges and experiences, not to mention new loot for players.

Although details are sketchy, one Blizzard representative has stepped up on the Battle.net forums to confirm a few things about the upcoming mechanic.

Chief among these new details is the fact that the Seasons require fresh characters only for this mode and that legendary items exclusive to Seasons will be made available in the regular game after their conclusion.

"Seasons will be optional. Similar to how you flag a character as Hardcore, when you create a character, you have the option to also make them Seasonal. There will be Seasonal Legendaries. At the end of a Season, Seasonal Legendaries will roll over into the non-Season loot pool. New Seasonal Legendaries will be available for Seasonal characters once the new Season begins."

Once a Season ends, players will be able to retain their earned legendary items on their respective characters, according to Blizzard.

The representative has also emphasized that things are still being nailed down in regards to the new mechanic and that players will be able to try it out once patch 2.1 enters the Public Test Realm in the future.

Unfortunately, there's still no exact date for when the update will be available for public testing, so who knows when players can get a taste of the new mechanic.
