Blizzard has detailed some of the differences between Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition on the PS4 and Xbox One platforms as opposed to the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions, confirming that there are limitations in terms of the Adventure Mode and other things.

Diablo 3 appeared on the PC and Mac platforms back in 2012 and reached the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles in 2013. Blizzard is currently working on the Ultimate Evil Edition, which includes the core game and the Reaper of Souls expansion, and will soon release it on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms.

As you can imagine, the last and current-gen editions of the role-playing dungeon crawler feature some differences, and Blizzard's Julia Humphreys has exemplified them to AusGamers.

"The main difference between the Xbox One and the PS4 is that you have some bonus items on the PS4 -- we have the Last of Us Nephalem Rift and the Shadow of the Colossus Transmog items," she said.

"Other than that on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions we’ve made some changes to how Adventure Mode works because those two platforms are not as powerful, so you’re limited to one Act at a time."

For console owners who previously experienced Diablo 3 on the PS3 or Xbox 360 and got the Ultimate Evil Edition on the same consoles, the save game files will be automatically detected by the game, according to Blizzard.

"We do allow you to transfer your save from Diablo 3 (on console)," Humphreys said. "So if you played on the PS3 or Xbox 360 and you choose to play [Reaper of Souls] on the PS3 or Xbox 360, when you fire up the game it’ll automatically find that save and bring it in."

Fans who now own a PS4 or Xbox One will be able to transfer their save game files onto the new consoles thanks to the Battle.net system, which will support the import of old PS3 and Xbox 360 data.

"Now, if you want to move to the PS4 or Xbox One there’ll be a patch coming out that will upload your save to the network and then when you play on [either of the new platforms] it’ll automatically look for that save and import it."

Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition is set to debut this August for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms. Expect to hear more about its features soon enough.
