The studio is preparing for Season 2 and its new Conquests

The development team at Blizzard is announcing that it has banned a number of players from Diablo 3 and that, as a result of the action, a number of changes have taken place on the leaderboards, which gamers will see when they next check their own status.

In a post on the official forums, the studio makes it clear that the move is not a limited one and that some high-ranking gamers were targeted, although no list of the accounts that have been eliminated from the game has been offered.

Blizzard adds, “Players that were found to be in violation were removed from the leaderboards and other rankings have been adjusted appropriately as a result. This means your ranking may have increased if someone ranked above you was removed from the leaderboard. As we move forward to future seasons and eras, we'll be continuing to monitor for such behavior and take appropriate action, though we may not always message when such ban waves occur.”

The company isn’t mentioning how the involved players have cheated and there are some voices saying that the exploitation of game glitches should not be punished by the developers and that they should only target those who have used third-party software in order to get an advantage.

Diablo 3 is preparing for the launch of Season 2

The fact that high-level players who have been banned from the title, unable to ever access their accounts again and forced to start off character building from scratch, are still interested in the title is a good sign for the long-term prospects of Diablo 3.

At the moment, the entire community is getting ready for the launch of the second play period for the Season mode.

It is set to start on February 13 and Blizzard is introducing a range of changes that are designed to make the competition more engaging in the long term and deliver solid rewards for those who perform well.

The included Conquests are now offered on the official site, which means all those interested can start preparing their strategies for the game.

Blizzard is also working on a bigger patch for Diablo 3, but right now it is focused on addressing individual problems using hotfixes.
